Meagan Good: Christian Beliefs Have Kept Me From Some Movie Roles, 'But Something Better Always Comes Along' – The Christian Post

Megan Good

Meagan Good is explaining why some of her convictions as a Christian may have gotten in the way of her obtaining certain movie roles.

Good, the 32-year-old actress who is promoting her latest film, "Anchorman 2," spoke about why she has turned down certain movie roles that did not coincide with her Christian faith.
"I have my parameters of what I feel in my spirit is appropriate," she told the LA Times. "There have been times where it's been tough because it's something I really wanted, but the nudity would be exploitative and I'd lose the opportunity, but what I've found is that the more I stick to my convictions, the more God sticks to his promises."
Still, she insisted that things have always worked out for the greater good.
"When I would lose something, something better would come up than what I turned down," Good told the Times. "And I've been able to pay my bills doing nothing else since I was 13."
The actress who is married to Hollywood Executive and preacher DeVon Franklin believes that her Christian faith and Hollywood career can coexist despite the pitfalls.

We believe that both [Christianity and show business] can come together and one can be used to promote the other, using what we do in the business to promote the kingdom," Good told the Times.
Good may be a well known celebrity, but the Christian actress says she can do without the fame.
"In this business you do get picked apart and you do get kind of bullied everyday, with the blogs and everything…," Good told Upscale magazine recently. "People say, 'well if you didn't want all of that then you shouldn't do this for a living' but there's a difference between someone who wants to be an actress because they want to be famous and someone who wants to do good work and they could take or leave the fame."
Good says she would leave the fame behind if she could.
"..Because it's not about the fame or money, it's genuinely about the art," Good told Upscale. "That's the category that I fall in. With the fame, to be honest, I could really leave it."

Too Sexy Or Maybe You Should Pluck Your Eyes Out? The Erica Campbell Controversy

Mary Mary's Erica Campbell

Mary Mary's Erica Campbell, a Gospel platinum recording artiste, recently posted the above picture on her Instagram. The promotional photograph was posted after she received a Grammy nomination for her solo radio hit, "A Little More Jesus." Her future solo album, HELP, will be released March 25, 2014.

Soon after the picture was posted, some Christians took to the web to express reservations about the dress she wore. They contend that as a very attractive Christian woman who sings the gospel of Jesus Christ, dressing in such a form-fitting attire may draw people's attention away from the message in her songs to herself. A Christian site A Toast 2 Wealth even stated: "The sexy attire takes any man or woman's mind off God and onto other things that aren't godly."

What is your take on this?

WHO DOES GOD SAY WE ARE?: THE LATE STARTERS CLUB By Michael Chima

We came across an inspiring story of Late Starters and was surprised to learn that Leonardo Da Vinci (the Universal Genius) was one. Culled from an article by Micheal Chima (a Nigerian Writer) published on Thisdaylive.com of 27 April 2013, the article is sure to inspire you and reinforce the truth that God does not forget; if He says He will do it, it will come to pass.

At 43, Leonardo da Vinci was a ‘nobody’ as they say it in Nigeria. The man recognised as one of history’s greatest artists and a genius had tried his hands at many things but failed. He was a failure. Yet, in many ways, his life largely was the record of failure.

According to popular biographer, Ross King, Leonardo had hoped to find work as an architect, but, “his wooden model for a domed tower for Milan’s half-built cathedral was rejected.” He tried to get the job of designing and casting the bronze doors for Piacenza Cathedral, but received no response.

Da Vinci at the height of his creative genius

He also drew up a detailed plan to redevelop the city of Milan, “not a single part of this plan was ever adopted or constructed.” He designed many military weapons, but these remained largely undeveloped; he was commissioned to sculpt a massive bronze statue, yet it was never completed, despite years of labour.

Leonardo’s breakthrough came when he was commissioned to paint a “Last Supper” scene in the refectory of Santa Marie delle Grazie. He began the work in early 1495, as a French army rolled through Italy.

The painting that gave Da Vinci his breakthrough
The iconic Mona Lisa, perhaps one of the most recognized paintings of the European Renaissance period, was painted by Da Vinci

The account goes on to say that after many years at the court of Lodovico Sforza, Leonardo was at a low point personally and professionally. He had reached the age of 43 without having completed a major work that fulfilled his astonishing promise. The latest in his chain of failures was a giant bronze horse to honour Lodovico Sforza’s father. After he had spent the better part of a decade planning the monumental sculpture, his 75 tons of bronze were expropriated to be turned into cannon to help repel the French invasion.

Da Vinci was also an engineer, architect as well as an artists. He invented many things including a prototype of an early helicopter

When The Last Supper was completed, it became clear that he was an extraordinary artistic genius. He succeeded despite his frustrations because of his persistence and in defiance of his age.

Despite his age, and being frustrated by war and political turmoil, and beset by his own insecurities and logistical difficulties, Leonardo created a masterpiece that would forever define his reputation.
